Parsippany, New Jersey - August 26, 2002: Richard P. Casey, CEO and founder of The Casey Group, an IT services and consulting firm, has been named Morris County's small business person of the year for the entrepreneur category by the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Casey founded The Casey Group in 1989, then known as American General Information Services (AGIS), with the goal to help companies make the best use of available technology to improve business success. Over the years, Mr. Casey has built his company to become one of the leading technology management and development firms both in Morris County and the New York Metropolitan area. Throughout his more than 21 years of IT experience, he has worked with major corporations in various aspects of business and technology consulting, including sales management, billing, and financial systems.
In addition to leading The Casey Group, Mr. Casey is actively involved with the regional and state-wide business and technology community, holding memberships in organizations such as the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey Technology Council, among others. His technology and business career began in New Jersey in the early 1980s when he worked as an IT development specialist for AT&T, which was then headquartered in Bedminster. Mr. Casey then founded American General Information Services in 1989 and based it in Parsippany.
"For nearly 14 years, Richard Casey has been a dedicated, supportive member of the Morris County business environment," said Bill Donnelly, President of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, based in Morristown, NJ. "He has been able to successfully combine technology skills, business savvy, and a sense of community to help our area become such a focal point for corporate America. The work he has done with a variety of regional businesses, along with the success he has achieved with The Casey Group, makes him a perfect recipient for this year's Small Business Award in the entrepreneur category. I'm pleased to present this award to Richard Casey."
Prior to founding AGIS, Mr. Casey worked for Spectrum Technology Corporation, where he held positions in IT sales and recruiting, and was an IT consultant for Computer Partners. Mr. Casey holds an MBA in finance from Fairleigh Dickenson University, and a Bachelor's Degree in biology from Rider University.
"Morris County has always been important to the growth of my company," said Mr. Casey. "I've been fortunate enough to draw on the resources of such a business-friendly environment, and I'm happy to have been able to work with people and organizations that have enabled me to become an entrepreneur in the first place. I'm pleased to accept this honor."
Winners were chosen by a panel of judges selected by the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and announced in September. Mr. Casey will join other small business persons of the year for categories such as service, professional, and non-profit. Awards were presented at a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Sheraton Hotel in Parsippany, NJ.
