Parsippany, NJ and New York, NY - November 1, 2000:
American General Information Services and Wasabi Systems today announced that they have formed a strategic alliance targeted at the NetBSD marketplace. NetBSD is a powerful, open source, Unix-compatible operating system that provides the highest level of reliability and portability available on the market today. It is more powerful than proprietary systems such as Windows and VxWorks, and more flexible and portable than Linux. As such, NetBSD is an optimal solution for embedded systems, high-end servers, Internet infrastructure equipment, mail servers, and any other application that relies on serious networking performance and reliability; BSD already powers well-known web sites such as Yahoo! and Hotmail, and runs the infrastructure of ISPs in England, Japan, and the United States. In addition to AGIS' equity position in Wasabi Systems, the companies announced joint selling programs and technology evaluation initiatives.
