In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, a New Orleans-based home and business security company needed to craft a solution to forego the billing of customers in specifically identified geographical locations..

Strategy
The strategy employed by The Casey Group needed to deliver an appropriate technical solution to the business problem and entailed very close interaction between multiple business groups and the technical staff. The solution needed to be re-usable, implemented quickly and removed with a minimum advance notice. All areas of billing and account maintenance were identified for consideration and final business approval on the approach.

Solution
As each of the above business concerns were identified, separate modules were created by The Casey Group to address each specific function. It was determined that the best approach to drive the new process was to create a driver file of customers within the affected zip codes provided by FEMA. By pursuing this modularized/driver type of approach as well as the close involvement of the business users in helping fabricate the solution, the matters of flexibility, re-use and retirement were addressed to the full satisfaction of the client..

Results
The client has achieved not only its financial goals but also has increased its reputation as a concerned corporate citizen in the market place.

Today
The reversal and/or changes of these business decisions driven by the Katrina catastrophe were planned and constructed during the initial efforts. The deferment of billing to the customer is still in place, and will remain so until no longer needed.
